Relevant Information: The moulding process metal powder injection moulding is realised by means of a 2-cavity injection moulding tool, whereby the internal thread (M3 8H) is moulded out of the tool in a form-falling manner and does not require any mechanical reworking on the moulding or sintered part.
Consolidation pressure is >1900 bar and the sintering temperature is >1250°C under N2 athmosphere.
Finishing Process: The only finishing process is hardening –> hardness of 460-530 HV10
Chemical Composition:
The material used, is IMET 8740 (equal to 1.6546, AISI/SAE 8740, 40NiCrMo2-2), which, when sintered with nitrogen, has the best properties for high strength and ductility as well as a large heat-treated diameter. We reach with our continuous debinding- & sinter furnaces and with our standard sinter parameter the following typical physical and typical chemical properties
Chemical properties in [%]:
C — 0,45-0,55
Ni — 0,50-0,80
Cr — 0,40-0,60
Mo — 0,25-0,40
Mn — >0,1
Si — 0,30-0,55
Fe — balance
This material is very often used for wear-resistant, highly stressed components in mechanical engineering and in the automotive industry.
